Singer and actor Gurdas Maan

Gurdas Mann, the proud Punjabi singer of Punjabiat, who brought the Punjabi mother tongue to the heights, was born on 4 January 1957 to mother Tej Kaur and father Gurdev Singh Mann at village and tehsil Giddarbaha, district of Sri Muktsar Sahib. From Giddarbaha, he started honing his skills in school children’s gatherings with his fellow Sufi singer Hakam Sufi. After starting his education from a village school, he received his education from Patiala to D.P.D. Gurdas Maan also served in the Punjab Electricity Department for some time, but due to his passion for singing, he quit the job and adopted singing field professionally. He became popular with song “Dil Da Maamla” which was telecasted on Doordarshan and then there was no looking back. His songs spread like wildfire across the globe and his famous songs are Chhalla, Pid tere jaan di, Sajjana ve sajjana, ki banu dunia da, Sarbansdaniya ve, Cycle, Heer, boot polishaan and many others. Gurdas Maan also made his mark in the Punjabi cinema world. Rouhani, Gabhru Punjab da Shaheed Udham Singh, Waris Shah, Shaheed e Mohabbat, Nankana, Des Hoya Prades were among the famous movies in he worked as actor and singer. He worked in more than a dozen Punjabi films which were super hits.

Actor Gaggu Gill

Guggu Gill is a famous name in Punjab due to his contribution as a fine actor in Punjabi Movies. Guggu’s real name is Kulwinder Singh Gill. He was born on 14th January 1960 in the house of Surjit Singh in village Mahnikhera Tehsil Malout of this historical district.None of the members had anything to do with acting. But due to the inspiration of his friend Baldev Singh Khosa, who is related to the film industry, Gugu Gill’s first film “Putt Jattan De” became an excuse to enter the Punjabi film world. He showed his acting skills in about 90 films, among which Gabhru Punjab Da, Jatt Te Zameen, Badla Jatti Da, Baaghi Soorme, Truck Driver, Pratigya, Anakh Jatt Di, Lalkara Jatti Da, Dulla Valley, Sikandra, Jatt Jeona Maur, Mukdar, Jatt Soorme, Subedar Joginder Singh, Pind My Home, Ranjha, Zora Das Numberia, Bhajjo Veero Ve, Dildariyan, Bajre Da Sitta, 25 Kille. He got popular as a hero as well as villain. Gugu Gill also left an indelible impression of his talent in a Haryanvi film “Jatan Ka Chhora” and the Bollywood film “Smuggler”.

Singer Bhola Yamla

Sufi singer of this historical town, Bhola Yamla was born in the house of Mr. Mithu Ram and Rani Kaur in village Jhakhardwala district Faridkot., Bhola’s parents were fond of music. He is disciple of famous singer ustad Lal Chand Yamla. After the death of Yamla Jat, Bhola learned the fine points of singing and became Bhola Ram to Bhola Yamla. He studied classical music from Madam Aruna Devi and Professor Rajesh Mohan. His song Tumbi versus Rafflan, Vahuti Naram Roti Garam, Maape, Paisa, Kharian Kharian, Jind Mahi, Dunia Rang Birangi have become very popular across the globe. Bhola Yamala is awarded gold medal twice for his song Tumbi Vs Rufflan. He is honored at numerous platforms for not only promoting Punjabi culture but also for encouraging his students to plant saplings.

Singer Guwinder Brar

Prominent young Punjabi singer Gurvinder Brar was born on 8th February 1979 at village Mahabadhar district of Sri Muktsar Sahib. Brar received his primary education in village primary school. His inclination towards reading literature and writing songs, and poems made him popular across the state of Punjab. His friends and professors appreciated his voice during a cultural fest in his college after which he became a famous singer and writer. His first album “Lambardar De Darwaje” was appreciated by a large number of audience in and around Punjab.
