E-governance or electronic governance may be defined as delivery of government services and information to the public using electronic means. Such means of delivering information is often referred to as information technology or 'IT' in short form. Use of IT in government facilitates an efficient, speedy and transparent process for disseminating information to the public and other agencies, and for performing government administration activities.

District Administration Sri Muktsar Sahib is committed to implement the E-governance in whole district and bring the Transparency , Efficiency, Accountability in government work. To achieve this, following E-Governance projects have been implemented

1. Single User friendly WIndow Disposal and Help line for Applicants (SUWIDHA)- Work related to the following branches is being disposed through Suwidha.

   • Arms License Branch Services
   • Record and Copying Branch Services
   • MA Branch Services
   • Passport Branch Services
   • Birth & Death Certificates
   • Certificate Issuance Services
   • Affidavit attestation Services
   • Driving Licences Issuing Services
   • Registration of Vehicle Services

2. Video Conferencing facility- Video Conferencing facility has been fully established in DAC Sri Muktsar Sahib as per the directions passed by the Govt. of Punjab.

3. Railway Reservation facility- To achieve the goal for public services online railway reservation facility has been fully established in Suwidha Center Sri Muktsar Sahib

4. Electronic Form Vendor (EFV)- As per the directions/ instructions of the Government an electronic form vendor has been authorized to sit in the DC office and sell the forms. He is providing the following services to the citizens:

   • He provides the government forms to the citizens.
   • Guiding the citizens for getting services by providing the instructions and procedures of the service.

5. Property Registration Information System (PRISM): This software is running successfully in all the seven Tehsils/ sub-tehsils. New version of PRISM i.e 4.0 has been implemented in all the tehsil.

6. Web Site of Sri Muktsar Sahib (www.muktsar.nic.in) : Official Web site of Sri Muktsar Sahib is Lanuched by Hon'ble Chief Minister Of Punjab on the auspicious occasion of Maghi on 13-01-2005.

7. Passport Application Acceptance System (PAAS) - This Software is used for data capturing of passport applications at district level, which was earlier done at the Regional Passport Office, Chandigarh. By this process the data entry errors are minimized. The data so collected is sent to the Regional Passport Office at Chandigarh through E-mail.

8. Arms License Issuance System (ALIS) - This software is used for generation of new arms License as well as renewal of arms licenses, addition of weapons, change of bore, cancellation of licenses, NOC for sale, NOC for import of weapons, extension of jurisdiction, extension of purchase period, disposal of weapon due to death, entry of weapon, deletion of weapon, change of address etc.

9. Payroll Management System- Used for EA branch of DC Office for pay calculations and ledger printing. It also generates the following reports

   • GPF schedule
   • GIS schedule
   • Bank statement
   • Salary slips

10. GPF Monitoring system - This Software is used for keeping the GPF information of Patwaries. It also generates yearly statements of each patwari.

11. Village Directory for Planning Department of Punjab Government-The village directory for Planning board department is made and is available with all kind of data related to village.

1. Treasury Information System for District Treasury Office- This software is used for receipts & payments of bills, Cheque printing and sending daily receipts and payments data to Chandigarh to keep the strict vigil on the financial condition of the State. With the help of this software each and every bill for payment is dealt seniority wise and after completing all the necessary formalities.

2. Employment Exchange Management System (EEMS)- at District Employment Exchange- This software is used for registering the unemployed youth of the district. It also has the facility to generate list of the candidates against the vacancy seniority wise. It also has the facility to provide different information like no. of unemployed person, category wise list according to the reservation of SC, ST, OBC of the applicants. Sri Muktsar Sahib was the first district where this project was started with the aid of United Nation.

3. Agriculture Marketing Networking (AGMARK-NET) - This software helps to computerize data on market fee, market charges, total arrivals, arrivals by agencies, quality and variety wise prices, storage, dispatches with destination, mode of transportation, costs, sold and unsold stocks, source of supply with destination, method of sale, payment, weighing and grading facilities, quantities graded etc.

4. Computerization of Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yogna (PMGSY)- This is internet based software, where online data entry is done by PWD officials regarding progress made for each and every road under Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojna. The basic objective of this internet based software is to provide better monitoring of the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojna at national level.

5. Computerization of Consumer Court (CONFONET)- This is intranet based software, where data entry is done by officials regarding new cases of consumer court with every progress under Consumer Court. The next phase of this software is to be internet based, providing better working, support and monitoring at national level.

6. District Social Security Office-The new hardware and software has been installed around 50000 pensioners are coming under the Sri Muktsar Sahib District and are managing with the help of IT.

• Establishment of LAN in District Administrative Complex to connect all branches with DC' s Computer.
• Computerization of Peshi branch (Court Information System).
• Computerization of Birth & Death Issuance system (BDCIS).
• Computerization of Certificate Issuance System (CIS).
• Handicap Certificate Issuance System.
• Counter Signing of Documents ( MA Branch)
